I recently lead a laughter yoga workshop at the local library for their community wellness series. It was a multi-generational group of people and we had a lot of fun laughing and connecting with one another. Because let's face it - laughter is powerful!
There was one older gentleman that seemed to be getting a kick out of the whole process and enjoying the laughter and the energy of the group. He approached me at the end while we were stacking chairs to say how much he appreciated the workshop.
You see he had double surgeries on his head one year ago. He pulled out his pocketbook and flipped thru some papers until he came to a photo of himself - head shaved, with a line of stitches that curved from behind one ear across the front of his brow line all the way around to his other ear. I asked what happened and he said he simply slipped and fell.
He proceeded to tell me that he hasn’t been able to do much since, so he was glad to find my class. He then looked me in the eye and said: “You helped me to laugh again.”
We never know who needs to hear our message, who needs to be touched by laughter or a smile, or who needs to hear a simple “hello, how are you?”
As you go about your day today, shine your light.
