As the autumn leaves change to brilliant shades of orange, yellow, rust and red before falling to the ground in preparation for the cold winter air so does the soul journey inward shedding layers of doubt, insecurity, shame, guilt and fear as it dives deeper.
And in the same way the buds of spring bring new life and color, so does the soul emerge with the brightness of joy, playfulness, creativity, wonder and awe. Once the old beliefs and patterns are shed, the new can begin.
As is the cyclical nature of the trees and the flowers on this big beautiful planet, so is the nature of our own inner world of growth and transformation.
I invite you to take a moment this season to stop and rest awhile among the changing, falling leaves. Ponder on that which may need to be shed during this season of life as you journey inward.
What beliefs are no longer serving you?
Allow them to surface and show their color and then allow them to fall to the ground.
What aspects of your life are draining you and burning you out?
Allow them to surface and acknowledge the behaviors, relationships and circumstances that are calling to be released. Honor them. Thank them for the lessons they have taught and then let them go.
Rest awhile in the stillness of autumn and let go of the things that you are trying so hard to control. Release them into the stillness of the afternoon. Watch a leaf flutter to the ground and imagine you are shedding your layers leaf by leaf.
I invite you to journey inward. Contemplate. Slow down.
Take this autumn release exercise out among the beautiful trees this season and allow yourself to join the cycle of nature.
I'd love to hear from you in the comments:
What are you releasing as you prepare for the transformation of a new season?
